Aber nachdem die ganzen dtp-Gestalten hier am laufenden Meter betont haben, dass wir es hier trotz allem neuen Firlefanz nach wie vor mit einem "richtigen" Adventure zu tun hätten, fände ich es doch etwas schwach, wenn die Rätsel tatsächlich so billig sein sollten, wie von IGN beschrieben.

Auch wenn ich es nicht so schön finde, als "dtp-Gestalt" tituliert zu werden, so antworte ich doch gerne. Vielleicht helfen dir diese Reviews bei deiner Meinungsbildung zu Dreamfall weiter:

Der Witz ist ja: Gamespy und IGN gehören zusammen.

Die Wertungen sind ja doch sehr unterschiedlich (was mich sehr beruhigt), allerdings scheinen sie sich doch alle einig zu sein, dass die Puzzles praktisch nicht vorhanden sind. Und dass das Ende sehr schwach ist.

Zurück zu Dreamfall.

Sehr gerne. Hier die Reviews von Gamespy (5 von 5 Sternen) und Gamespot (8.1 von 10 Punkten).

Gamespy kritisiert zwar ebenfalls das schlechte Combat- und Sneaksystem, relativiert aber: "Fortunately, these action-adventure sequences make up a very tiny portion of the game, are mostly optional, and are usually short and easy". Auch die Maus-Tastatur-Steuerung kommt nicht gut weg, wobei sehr empfohlen wird ein Gamepad zu verwenden, mit dem sich das Spiel angeblich sehr gut steuern läßt. Ansonsten wird die fantastische Story ("There's clearly a lot going on in Dreamfall. The game covers a lot of metaphorical, political, and religious ground, and is easily one of the best story experiences I've ever had in a videogame.") sowie das Artwork und die hervorragende Vertonung gelobt. Über die Qualität der Rätsel erfährt man allerdings nichts. Im Fazit (im Test gleich zu Beginn:) heißt es: "Dreamfall is the follow-up to The Longest Journey, GameSpy's 2000 Adventure Game of the Year. As good as that game was, the sequel simply outdoes it in almost every way." Insgesamt eine enthusiastische Review, die gleichwohl die Mängel des Spiels nicht verschweigt.

Wer sich Dreamfall wegen Starforce oder der Steuerung entgehen läßt ist wirklich selber schuld!

"praktisch nicht vorhanden" finde ich doch sehr übertrieben.

Und ein "sehr schwaches" Ende kann ich auch nicht als gemeinsames Resumee der drei bisher erschienenen Reviews feststellen. Gamespot schreibt dazu folgendes:

"Questions are raised at the beginning of the game that never get satisfactory answers. Indeed, it seems pretty obvious that the game is left open for a sequel, and the game's hardcore fans will be debating the meaning of the ending on message boards for months. In short, the game assumes that players can handle ambiguity and don't need everything spelled out for them. For my part, I loved it. Gamers who prefer their adventure tales all wrapped up in a nice, neat package, however, may be annoyed by Dreamfall."

Ich persönlich finde das Spiel nach wie vor interessant, auch wenn die PC-Version durch Starforce und SP2 für mich gestorben ist. Macht aber nichts, ich finde sowieso, daß Spiele die für Gamepad entwickelt wurden, sich auf einer Spielkonsole und am Fernseher erheblich schöner spielen lassen. Bei Fahrenheit hat mir das sehr gut gefallen, gemütlich zurückgelehnt vom Sessel aus zu spielen. Und genau deshalb freue ich mich auch auf Dreamfall. Wenn das so Schule macht, wird es bestimmt noch einige Titel geben, die den Sprung vom PC auf die Konsole schaffen.

Vorher war ich sehr begeistert davon, jetzt bin ich es nicht mehr, ich hoffe dennoch das es ein gelunges Spiel wird

Edit: Zwar steht im Adventure Treff das es ein Adventure durch und durch ist auf der Dreamfall Hompage steht das ein gelunges Action Adventure ist!

Long-winded conversations ensue, the likes of which leave children scarred for life from family holiday gatherings. Dreamfall comes to the line between adding dimension to characters and giving too much information and smashes through it without so much as a thought of applying the brakes. Oftentimes exchanges stretch into several minutes, and that's before getting around to whatever it was that advances the story. These progressively blur together over the course of the game as "playing" gets dispensed with entirely for extended stretches that move from one in-game cut-scene to the next without you doing more than looking on.

The hunting for the magic pixel and MacGyver-like combining of unlikely items to solve puzzles are gone, but there's not much to take their place. You do occasionally pick up a thing here to use over there, but the placement of problem and solution are so elementary that it hardly seems fair to call them puzzles.

The other aspect of the new 3D engine that could have picked up some of the slack was the addition of stealth and beat-em-up action. It goes disastrously. The fighting, hand-to-hand or armed depending on the character, is a numb, mushy, button-mashing mess. Sluggish response turns it into more a matter of guessing the right timing to land a couple of attacks while circling your foe. And just making it so that pulling the left trigger puts your character in that over-used crouch to sneak around levels does not constitute developed -- much less good -- gameplay.

All that leaves is the drawn-out telling of a somewhat intriguing sci-fi/mystical story. Granted, for fans of the original it will be fairly compelling, and yes, it's the sort of stuff adventure fans dig on -- complete with its sloppy ending. [...] But as a game, it fails.

Ich kann mich an kein Adventure erinnern, dass innerhalb von 3 Tagen von praktisch 100% (Gamespy) bis 40% (1UP) alles durchgemacht hat.

Das Kampfsystem macht mich dabei nicht skeptisch - so lange es einfach ist, sehe ich das als Minigame-Einlage an. Skeptisch bin ich eher bei den Dialogen, deren Qualität und Länge mich schon an TLJ so tierisch genervt hat.

Zumindest scheint man sich recht einig zu sein, dass die Geschichte großartig ist - und das ist bei Adventures doch einer der wichtigsten (für mich persönlich der wichtigste) Aspekt(e). Schade wäre ein schlechtes Kampf-/Schleichsystem, was für mich aber durch gute (und lange) Dialoge, hübsche Grafik und gute Atmosphäre wieder aufgehoben wird.

Ich freue mich auf Dreamfall.

Vermutlich ist TLJ/Dreamfall einfach nichts für Dich. Man muß ja nicht alles mögen...

Pauschal kann man sowieso noch nichts sagen. Hab mal gegoogeled und gesehen, dass auch Syberia von 100% bis 40% so ziemlich alles eingefahren hat. Bei TMos geht's sogar von 100 bis 14... - allerdings über einen längeren Zeitraum. Bevor man also nicht mindestens 10 Reviews auf dem Tisch hat, ist das also noch nicht so aussagekräftig. Auf alle Fälle sagen kann man wohl, dass Dreamfall bestimmt nicht jedem gefällt - aber bei welchem Spiel ist das schon so.

Dann bin ich halt der Erste. Ich halte die Art, wie Dialoge in TLJ geführt wurden immer noch für verdammt unrealistisch. Für mich waren die Charaktere nur noch Ventile zur Informationsweitergabe und die wenigen Versuche, Charakter-Tiefe durch die Art zu erzeugen, wie Personen reden, schlugen mit zu starken Klischees fehl. Aber das sind justmy2cents. Ich fand TLJ schon okay, vermutlich gerade noch ein glatter 80er - würde es aber glaub ich kein zweites Mal spielen.

Zwei Dinge scheinen allgemein festzustehen: Story und Charaktere großartig, Rätsel leider nur spärlich vorhanden. Vorweg, ich werde mir Dreamfall 100%ig kaufen, soviel steht fest, allerdings macht mich der zweite Punkt etwas nachdenklich.
Für mich steht das Gameplay - egal bei welchem Genre - an erster Stelle. Story, gut ausgearbeitete Charaktere, Atmosphäre - das ist ja alles schön und gut und natürlich auch sehr wichtig, aber was ist ein Adventure ohne ein gutes Rätseldesign, das sollte doch eigentlich das Elementare dieses Spielprinzips sein? Das macht doch ein Spiel erst zu einem Adventure. Leider fällt mir das mittlerweile immer häufiger auf, dass die Rätseldichte und Komplexität immer weiter in den Hintergrund rückt.

Aber bevor AT nicht seinen Test veröffentlicht hat, will ich versuchen noch optimistisch zu bleiben.

Sorry, das mit der "Gestalt" war nicht als Beleidigung gemeint. Im Grunde sagen diese Zitate ja nichts Neues, da auch IGN in Sachen Präsentation und Drumherum Höchstnoten vergeben und sich lediglich zum Gameplay und zu den Rätseln negativ geäußert hat. Mein Unmut bezog sich vielmehr darauf, mit welcher Vehemenz Dreamfall zur revolutionären Killerapplication hochstilisiert worden war, nur um am Ende anscheinend ganz banal an einem verkorksten Gameplay zu scheitern. Das rief bei mir Erinnerung an Fahrenheit oder auch Beyond Good&Evil wach, die beide als virtuelle Meisterleistungen angepriesen wurden und tatsächlich stellenweise ein grandioses Erlebnis waren, im Grunde aber die elementarsten Dinge falsch gemacht und am Ende ernormes Potential verschenkt haben. Wie ich auch schon oben erwähnt habe, spiele ich durchaus gerne spielerisch nicht so prickelnde Titel und werde mir Dreamfall wohl auch wegen dem anscheinend sehr schönen Design zulegen. Nur dieser Holzhammer-Hype für ein am Ende doch wieder "nur" normalsterbliches Produkt hat meinen Enthusiasmus etwas gebremst.
