Hey there, fellow pirates!
Let me share a little personal story that's been stuck in my head since I was a kid. Back in the early '90s, I was flipping through a video game magazine (probably The One or PC Review) and came across a preview for the second Monkey Island game. There was this one image that absolutely blew my mind: Guybrush Threepwood in his pixel art form from the first game – that blocky striped shirt, that limited 16-color palette – placed right inside a location from the second game.
It was a flash that never left me. For years, I was convinced I had dreamed it up, or that my memory was playing tricks on me. That contrast between the "old" Guybrush and the richly detailed backgrounds of LeChuck's Revenge felt too surreal to be real.
Well, I have to give a huge shout-out to user Federico M., who pointed me in the right direction. Without his tip, I'd probably still be digging through old scans!
Now that I've found it, I wanted to share it with all of you, because I know there are other enthusiasts here who understand the thrill of unearthing a piece of your own gaming history.
