David Cage has confirmed Quantic Dream will develop a virtual reality adventure game for the PS4 to be released in 2016. The announcement by the Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls developer was revealed in an interview with a French gaming magazine on the weekend.

“I have explored death but feel it is time to explore life.” Cage explains. “Virtual reality presents a unique opportunity to provide players powerful emotions that can only be experienced by wearing a headset.”

The game, currently titled Sunshine, will be built around Sony’s Project Morpheus VR tech, unveiled at GDC last week. It will follow the story of a mother’s relationship to her son following the revelation that he is a robot.

“Imagine being able to touch a child’s face to comfort him or patting a friend on the back to give him support.” Cage says “These are the kind of experiences that only virtual reality can provide.”

Cage has teased that more information on Sunshine will be revealed at E3 in June including the announcement of a possible celebrity voice actor. When pressed on who might be cast for Sunshine, Cage replied “I can’t say who it is yet but I can tell you she’s no where near her twilight years.”
