Red Candle Games brings you a story Inspired by East Asian folk culture. Devotion is a first-person atmospheric horror game depicting the life of a family shadowed by religious belief. Im Februar 2019 wurde im Spiel ein Objekt entdeckt, das einen Verweis auf ein Internet-Meme enthielt, in dem der chinesische Präsident Xi Jinping mit Winnie-the-Pooh verglichen wurde. Dies verursachte in China erhebliche Kontroversen und führte dazu, dass das Spiel in allen Regionen aus dem Verkauf genommen wurde. Auch geplante Konsolenversionen wurden auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben. Nach einer exklusiven Einzelhandelsveröffentlichung in Taiwan im Jahr 2020 *** war es Anfang 2021 endlich wieder weltweit über den eigenen Online-Shop von Red Candle erhältlich.

"We may have no experience of 1980s Taiwan, but Devotion carries the tang of authenticity in both the sharply observed detail of its setting and its more imaginative flourishes, including a gorgeous interactive storybook episode. Yet if the specificities of the setting are part of the appeal, and the cultural references key to the story, its central tragedy is underpinned by stresses and fears anyone can identify with. It wants to make you cry as well as jump - and it succeeds handsomely on both scores."
