Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth tot?

Ich habs schon vor ein paar Tagen angespielt, kannte die alte Demo aber nicht - hat mir ganz gut gefallen.

Das letzte Update auf der FB-Seite von Fountain of Youth vom 22.November 2017:

So, development is progressing quite rapidly actually.
As some of you may know we started working on Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth in the amazing Adventure Game Studio (go get it, it's free and you can make amazing games with it - just look at the absolute mountain of cool games that people have made with it: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/). Our demo was made in it, some of our april fools "games" were built in it - it served us very well!
But nevertheless (after some serious consideration) we've decided to go with Unity for our development; it gives us a bit more flexibility when it comes to weird screen formats, mobile devices and who knows: possibly even such ambitious platforms as Nintendo Switch, PS4 and XBox One.

Was meint ihr dazu? Was soll man von diesem Update nun halten? Wird es die Entwicklung wirklich beschleunigen, wie das Team selber vermutet, oder wird sich das eher als eine (Spass)Bremse auswirken?


Am 29.11. gab es dann jedenfalls noch den Hinweis auf FB, dass das Team uralte Inhalte quasi "ausgemistet" hat, die es nicht ins Spiel schaffen werden.

Darunter hat Jeff einen Kommentar geschrieben, der es ziemlich gut auf den Punkt bringt:

Das Projekt ist soweit ich weiss seit 2006 (oder noch länger?) in Arbeit oder? Immerhin cool, dass noch daran gearbeitet wird - bei all der zähen Wartezeit darauf, dass das Spiel endlich fertig wird.

Nun habe ich eine Frage an die Redaktion von Adventure-Treff: Könnt ihr euch vorstellen, mal ein Interview mit jemandem vom FoY-Team zu machen und einen Artikel zu dem Thema zu schreiben? Vielleicht arbeiten sie ja dann schneller, wenn sie merken, dass da jemand interessiert ist und nachfragt?

Hello, friends, fans, and supporters!

We have some big changes coming up... Because we want to be transparent with our community, we'd like to elaborate on the reasoning behind those changes, and explain what they'll mean for the development of the game.

Let's start with the hard part: in the wake of several ambitious fan projects being cancelled by Lucasfilm for infringement on the Star Wars and Indiana Jones IP’s, we've decided to suspend the unlicensed use of the Indiana Jones IP for Fountain of Youth. This means that we’ll be taking pre-emptive steps to remove all traces of Lucasfilm's intellectual property (characters, images, logos, etc.) from the game.

Please know that our team has discussed many possible options at length, and this is not a decision we’ve made lightly. Even though we’d love to continue developing an officious successor to Fate of Atlantis, we also realize that a cease and desist notice from Lucasfilm is ultimately inevitable, and would most likely result in complete cancellation of the game. While saying goodbye to Dr. Jones is a difficult sacrifice, we feel it’s the only way to ensure the Fountain of Youth will eventually find its way to your gaming devices.

In practice, this has the following effects:

- We'll remove any content relating to the Indiana Jones IP, including the titular protagonist and a few support characters.
- We're not making any changes to the gameplay or the look and feel of the game.
- The game is going to be titled 'The Fountain of Youth'. Our Facebook page and Twitter handle will be renamed accordingly.
- As the story is original work, most of it can remain intact. However, changes to the main character's motivations and backstory are to be expected.

Even though this announcement may come as a surprise to some of you and a shock to others, rest assured - we're doing out best to make Fountain of Youth the sequel Fate of Atlantis never got!

Fountain of Youth soll sich an den Klassiker Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis anlehnen. Die Story spielt zeitlich vor FoA.

Nur muss man sich bewusst sein, dass die Demo bereits 13 Jahre alt ist, nahezu das gesamte Team inzwischen ein anderes ist, es vor einigen Jahren einen kompletten Reboot gab und alte Assets wohl nicht mehr genutzt werden, und nun eben mit der Abkehr von der Indy-IP noch weitere Veränderungen bevorstehen.
Mit dem fertigen Spiel Fountain of Youth wird diese Demo nicht mehr viel zu tun haben. Dennoch ist es mal interessant, einfach zu schauen, was damals erreicht wurde und wie das Spiel hätte aussehen können.
